I moved to New York City during the Summer of 2018 to pursue a career in Graphic Design. When I applied for a Junior Design position at Paragon Sports, the first thing I noticed was how small and efficient their design team was. I was surprised at the level of responsibility the position entailed, as well as the diverse nature of mediums I would be working in. I was offered the position at the end of July 2018. When In design school, I was told that when starting to work for a company, you are provided with the brands visual identity and brand guidelines. Since Paragon did not have any such guidelines I took it upon myself to build guidelines while learning and exploring the brand and how it has presented itself over the years.
The small size of Paragons design team has afforded me a broad range of responsibilities on a day to day basis, my work includes updating and maintaining the companys website, and creating email blasts, but I also have the opportunity to work on In-store redesigns, promotional t-shirts, signage, coupons, and motion graphic projects. I have learned an incredible amount at Paragon and have enjoyed the privilege of working with many high profile brands including Nike, Canada Goose, and The North Face. The amount I have grown as a designer during my time at Paragon is immeasurable, and I am so grateful that it was my first professional job within the Graphic Design industry.
